This beautiful extra-large pierced puffy heart vinaigrette locket pendant is crafted from sterling silver. Featuring intricate openwork patterns and delicate engravings on both sides, it opens to reveal two usable compartments for holding scents.During the Victorian days, these scent lockets were referred to as vinaigrettes, which held a daub of aromatic vinegar, smelling salts, or spirits of ammonia. Fashionable ladies wore them to ward off fainting spells and it became a "necessary" carried by expectant mothers. A sentimental gift for that someone special or to add detail to a neck stack!
