This rare antique Georgian sterling silver vinaigrette, hallmarked in Birmingham in 1799 by silversmith Samuel Pemberton, showcases exquisite detail and craftsmanship. Its oval engraved garland front opens like a book to reveal a gold gilt interior with a hinged, deep locket compartment designed to hold a daub of perfume on cotton. As an early example of Pemberton's work, this pendant follows the Georgian style and serves as a functional and collectible piece, contrasting with his later, more elaborate vinaigrettes.
