Victorian Sterling Silver Tortoise Shell Cuff Bracelet
A wide, hand carved curve of genuine tortoise shell forms the background for an intricate foliate band of sterling silver in this circa 1870s Victorian cuff bracelet. The cuff shows brilliant hues of brown and amber to yellow with a raised detailed sterling silver band that graduates to the back. This bracelet was suitable for half mourning; black was for the first year and tortoise shell considered suitable for the 2nd year of mourning. Oval in shape, the bracelet measures 6 3/4 inches around the inside and a full 7/8 inch wide in the front. A truly stunning and hard to find antique Victorian beauty!
