Victorian Braided Hair Gold Cross Pendant Mourning Jewelry
Circa 1870s antique Victorian braided hair cross pendant rendered in 14K yellow gold. Round bulbous woven hair links form the cross and are spaced with 14K gold bands capped on the ends with a yellow gold cups. Not all braided hair jewelry was for mourning during the Victorian era. Since hair was incredibly personal, women would braid locks of hair from their husbands or fiances as a love token. Add a chain or wear from a ribbon, the cross is an endearing treasure of a time past.
