Gold Gutta Percha Antique Victorian Bracelet Mourning
Lovely antique Victorian mourning jewelry bangle bracelet, circa 1880s, created with gutta percha and featuring a double band of 14K gold. The hinged cuff bracelet is closed with a slide clasp. I have the matching bracelet shown and offered in another listing. Very rare to find a mourning jewelry set like this. Every bit as wearable today as it was well over 100 years ago!

Gutta percha is derived from tropical trees indigenous to Southeast Asia. The sap from the trees formed a latex which allowed the Victorians to create jewelry, furniture as well as dentistry. Blocks of gray, black and brown were used by the artists to create the pieces.
