Antique Victorian Sterling Enamel Bracelet Greek Key
Circa 1880s Austrian antique Victorian bangle bracelet, rendered in sterling silver, featuring a chased engraved Greek Key design backed by cobalt blue enamel. The bangle has an elaborate engraved design in silver at the hinge and clasp section. A secure slide clasp which bears touch marks of the maker, completes the piece.
The geometric meanders were used in ancient Greece as a border decoration. When designed in a repetitive pattern it is also referred to as "running dog". The use of this motif was revived from about 1800 during the Greek revival period of Victorian jewelry. The Greek Key design motif symbolizes the bonds of love, friendship and devotion. A splendid piece of authentic antique Victorian jewelry that would make the perfect gift for a loved one.
