Antique Victorian Silver German Kropfkette Necklace
Antique Victorian silver German Kropfkette necklace with a large center medallion in 835 silver frame inset with gold filigree, genuine pearls and sapphire blue glass stones. The Circa 1840-1850 choker has six graduated rollo style silver chains connected on each side of the medallion with a shovel slide clasp. Hallmarked with the old Hapsburg, Germany mark as well as 835 for the silver content, the necklace is a highly collectible piece of antique jewelry. The most characteristic item in Austrian and South German traditional jewelry is the Kropfkette, a choker of multiple rows of chain with an imposing clasp at the front.

Condition: Very, very good with the silver having a nice patina free of blemishes. The gild filigree is bright, pearls have a lovely iridescence and the blue glass stones are brilliant. A very well cared for antique!
