Antique Victorian Sardonyx Silver Ring
A red sardonyx stone set in an oval sterling silver frame comprises this late 19th century Victorian to Edwardian ring. Ornate wide filigree shoulders graduate to a simple back band. The stone has a red band with a thin band of white on top giving the stone a milky appearance. Most sardonyx (the red version of onyx) was used in carving cameos. In a finger size 5, the face of the ring measures 20mm...quite impressive! Sardonyx is a stone of strength and protection and thought to enhance willpower, integrity, stamina and vigor.
