Antique Victorian Gold Swivel Locket Brooch Pendant ON HOLD
ON HOLD...DO NOT BUY
Exquisite antique swivel locket gold brooch hailing from the late Georgian era to early Victorian times. A glass encased carved deer and fawn represent one side and when swiveled, the other side has a daguerreotype of a gentleman. Very large measuring almost 3 inches, the locket brooch has a twisted round band with chased edges and another round forget me not engraved tube holding the swivel portion in place. The brooch has a tubular hinge with c-clasp closure and safety chain with pin. Worn as a mourning brooch or memento mori, suspend from a chain and wear as a pendant. Very intricate...
Sentimental pieces such as this were meant to symbolize love and loss, intimacy and friendship. They often contained a tender circle of hair, a photo or piece of fabric with one side meant to shield the public eye to the contents and worn close to the heart. A lovely sentiment that even applies to today's time.
