Antique Victorian Braided Hair Bracelet Mourning Jewelry
Three rows of intricately braided human hair closed with an engraved gold filled clasp forms this antique Victorian bracelet, circa 1880s. The center box style clasp is heavily engraved with the back bearing the initials ACL. Very versatile in today's times as the bracelet can be worn with the initials showing or reversed and worn for sentiment. Not all braided hair jewelry was for mourning during the Victorian era. Since hair was incredibly personal, women would braid locks of hair from their husbands or fiances as a love token.
