Antique Silver Peruzzi Carnelian Necklace 19th Century
An exquisite example of renaissance revival antique jewelry, this late 19th century Italian Peruzzi silver necklace with dangling carnelian gemstone brooch/pendant brings the old world back to the forefront. Three playful cherub putti are surrounded by an openwork floral motif to form the detachable brooch/pendant pendant with five red carnelian pendants swaying below. The pendant connects to an elaborate double sided chain having flower links as well as della Robbia links (swaddled infant). Impressive, gothic, chic and stunning!
Gemstones: Five natural carnelian gemstones - each is roughly 12.5mm by 8.5mm
Measurements: 24 inches long with the pendant/brooch adding an additional 3 5/8 inches. The necklace slips over the head.
Weight: 53 grams
Hallmarks: Italy 800
Condition: Very, very good with a wonderful rich patina to the silver, no chips or nicks to the carnelian which glow a beautiful orange red. The back of the pendant has a c-clasp and tubular hinge closure. You could remove the pendant and wear the chain as a necklace with the other forming a huge brooch. A very well kept antique piece of antique jewelry!
