Antique 1860s Victorian Chalcedony Hair Locket Brooch
An endearing antique Victorian brooch, circa 1860, with a large milky chalcedony stone inset with a hair locket in the center. An ornate 9ct yellow gold frame holds the translucent chalcedony with an elaborate decorative border around the oval beveled glass center. Closed with a c-clasp and added safety pin closure on the back, the brooch was most likely for a dear friend or a loved one and a popular piece of traditional mourning jewelry. Very striking!
