Antique 14K Gold Pique Cross Pendant Necklace
Beautiful large and impressive antique Victorian pique cross pendant necklace, circa 1870s. The crucifix pendant has a row of 14K yellow gold dotted inlay rings with sterling silver engraved center on each. The pendant sways a fine gold filled chain. Excellent craftsmanship!
The technique for making pique, inlaying gold and silver into shell or ivory, was brought to England by the Huguenots when they were expelled from France in the late 17th Century. Pique jewelry blossomed in the late 1800's. All original superb antique Victorian pendant necklace!

Measurements: 2 1/2 inches tall, 1/2 inches wide and suspended from an 18inch gold filled chain
Date: Circa 1870s
Condition: No chips or nicks to the cross with one half of a sterling piece deficient from the very bottom. A very excellent piece of antique jewelry!
