Aesthetic Victorian Silver BookChain Necklace
Antique Birmingham silver Victorian necklace with a fanciful foliate pierced design ending with a swivel fob pendant. A blood agate and a rich carnelian stone are on each side with a garnet resting at the tip of the fob that bears English hallmarks. This magnificent collar heralds from the Aesthetic Period during Victoria's rein circa 1886 (dated on fob), and was made in Birmingham, England. The Greco-Etruscan motifs of the collar are of the Castellani and Guiliano school. A delightful, hand fabricated, mid-nineteenth century adornment.
Measurements: Necklace is 16 1/2 in. long and 3/4 in. wide. The fob measures 1 3/4 in. from the ring to the bottom with the actual stone portion measuring 3/4 in. and a touch over 3/8 in. wide
Hallmarks: Birmingham, Lion, letter date for 1886 as well as makers mark
Condition: Lovely patina to the silver with no chips or nicks to the blood agate, carnelian or garnet. Museum piece!
