14K Gold Gutta Percha Victorian Bracelet
Beautifully crafted in gutta percha, this exquisite antique Victorian bangle bracelet is wrapped in 14K gold. The bangle features a triple band of 14K gold wrapped around the entire bangle. The hinged bracelet is closed with a slide clasp. I have the matching bracelet shown and offered in another listing. Very rare to find a mourning jewelry set like this. Every bit as wearable today as it was 160 years ago!
Materials: 14K Gold (chain and band tested), Gutta Percha
Measurements: 6.50 inches around, 2.25 inches across the oval and 1/2 inch wide
Condition: very good with no noted defects and the clasp secure although it does have a slight wiggle.
Gutta-percha is derived from tropical trees indigenous to Southeast Asia. The sap from the trees formed a latex which allowed the Victorians to create jewelry, furniture as well as dentistry. Blocks of gray, black, and brown were used by the artists to create the pieces.
