This beautiful vintage Egyptian Revival bracelet is a wonderful marriage of color, symbolism, and intricate silverwork. A row of turquoise faience scarab beetles creates the centerpiece, each one framed by beautifully detailed silver filigree.
Egyptian faience is a glazed, vitrified material that was used in ancient Egypt to create beads, amulets, and small decorative objects. The scarab was one of the most important symbols in ancient Egyptian culture, associated with the sun god Re and representing creation, renewal, and “to come into being.”
Each turquoise scarab is individually prong-set into an ornate silver mounting with a closed back. The delicate filigree creates a beautiful contrast against the smooth, luminous turquoise-blue faience, while the early Egyptian hallmarks add another fascinating layer to this distinctive piece.
At 47.1 grams, the bracelet has a substantial, luxurious feel on the wrist. It makes a fabulous statement worn alone, but would be equally wonderful layered with other bangles for an eclectic, collected look.
A truly wonderful piece for anyone drawn to Egyptian Revival jewelry, ancient symbolism, unusual gemstones and materials, or beautifully crafted vintage silver.
