This exceptional antique Victorian pendant locket dates to the 1860s and showcases a dramatic banded agate wrapped in a finely modeled serpent. The snake coils around the bezel, with its head poised at the top of the stone and its tail forming the bail—an iconic Victorian symbol of eternity and wisdom.
Made in warm golden pinchbeck, the pendant has an impressive scale and a strong, sculptural presence. On the reverse, a locket compartment holds an original period photograph of a gentleman, which can be easily removed to keep a personal memento, lock of hair, or miniature portrait.
The agate itself is richly patterned, with natural bands ranging from creamy white and honeyed caramel to deep chocolate brown. Each layer tells its own story, making the stone entirely unique.
