From the Art Deco era, circa the 1920s, this charming novelty brooch features a graceful swallow in mid-swoop, sparkling with diamond paste stones. Hand-crafted in Czechoslovakia, the swallow’s wings are beautifully detailed and open, with a single paste stone set right at the head for a touch of extra shimmer. The back is finished with a trombone clasp hallmarked Czechoslovakia, just as you’d expect from pieces of this period.
Swallows were a beloved motif in Victorian sweetheart jewelry—they mate for life, so they symbolized loyalty and everlasting love. It’s such a lovely sentiment, and it makes this brooch an even more meaningful gift.
