This exquisite antique tortoise shell Victorian pique brooch, dating from the 1870s, features a domed design with a 9K yellow gold and silver floral bouquet—delicately composed of a daisy, rose, and leaves—set within an elegant circular motif. The brooch’s concave back is fitted with a tubular pin and secure C-clasp closure. Equally refined when worn as a pendant on a gold chain, this piece exemplifies masterful craftsmanship. The pique technique, involving the inlay of gold and silver into shell or ivory, was introduced to England by Huguenot artisans in the late 17th century and flourished during the late 1800s.
