Victorian Onyx Gold Pearl Brooch Pin
Antique 9K gold Victorian bar brooch pin, circa 1880s, featuring a thick oval bar of black onyx. The concave center has sprays of flowers studded with pearls. Most likely worn as a mourning brooch during the second year of mourning with the pearls signifying tears. The back has a tubular hinge and curling c-clasp closure. A lovely piece that can be worn as easily today as it was 150 years ago!
Materials: 9 karat gold on the front, gold base metal on the back
Gemstone: Black onyx; seed pearls
Measurements: 1.5 inches long and 5/8 inches tall
Condition: Good condition with a chip to the onyx on the front which is hard to tell with the concave design, all seed pearls present.
