Suffragette Brooch...ON HOLD
DO NOT BUY unless you are Henriette...Reserved ON HOLD
Exquisite antique Edwardian Suffragette brooch, circa 1910, bearing green peridot, violet amethyst paste stones and a white seed pearl. Set in a gold filled open work frame, the violet amethyst stones take on the shape of a flower with a seed pearl center. Flanked on each side are vibrant peridot green stones. Suffragette jewelry is in great demand and this is a splendid example of history.
The official colors of WSPU were declared and explained in the spring of 1908. They were purple (dignity), white (purity) and green (hope). Hundreds of protesters, wearing those colours, would march behind similarly coloured banners. The colors also stood for Give (green) Women (white) Votes (violet).
