Antique Garnet Victorian Locket Brooch Pendant 1800s Jewelry – $850 – Sold Out
Quantity Available: 1
Magnificent antique Bohemian garnet Victorian brooch locket that doubles as a pendant! The large brooch locket has tiers of deep rich red hand cut pyrope garnets with a scrolling top and sides and a small garnet dangling below. All are prong set in a gold pinchbeck mounting with the back having a glass front locket compartment. A wonderful contrast between the large table cut garnets and the smaller rose cut garnets accentuating the fine detail of the piece. A tubular hinge and clasp as well as a swivel hook to wear as a pendant complete the piece. A Victorian lady would have added a velvet cord to wear as a necklace…so regal and elegant! A rare treasure to behold and a true collector’s piece.
Measurements: 2 1/2″ excluding the bale and 1/2″ thick
Circa: 1860s
Condition: Very, very good with no chips or nicks to the garnets and all present. The locket glass back has a few chiggers out of the beveled rim but not a deterrent to the functionality. At a very early time, the c-clasp closure has been professionally replaced with a rolling clasp. The elongated pin stem is straight and free of bends
